Since leaving Los Angeles, brothers Heth and Jed have turned on millions to their unique Jambient sound as they transform public spaces into sound labs, using live looping and an array of effects to explore sonic textures never before heard on the streets and subways of New York City.

The boys popped out to musical parents, spending most of their youth stuck backstage at the Hollywood Bowl listening to their classical flute playing father rip it up with the L.A. Philharmonic. In those early days, Godfather David Carradine was always hanging around the house, as well as musical legends Dizzy Gillespie, James Taylor, Jackson Brown and uncle Harvey Weinstein jamming and smoking weed with their parental units in a tiny apartment off the Sunset Strip. That contact high continues to this day.

Hardcore Heth and Jederz memorize their favorite songs, make their own Heth and Jed jackets, stickers, posters, and track the duo from show to show, subway station to street corner (200 hundred plus busking shows annually). You can also find the dudes playing indoors at many of the top clubs across the U.S.

In 2006 they earned coveted a spot in the MTA’s Music Under New York program out of a field of more than 400 applicants. MUNY continues to provide them with sanctioned performance locations within the subway system, helping considerably in the reduction of nights the guys spend behind bars. Recently Gothamist.com asked them to write about their exploits in a feature called “Tourist,” (a tour diary). The success of that article became the inspiration for their forthcoming memoir, “Buskers: The On the Streets, In the Trains, Off the Grid Memoir of Two New York City Street Musicians.”

The boys were also featured in the forthcoming Documentary film, Playing For Keeps (2010) , Directed by Denis O’Hare (Charlie Wilson's War, Michael Clayton, A Mighty Heart, Brothers & Sisters), produced by Silverwood Films (Half Nelson). The documentary chronicles the highs and lows of the life of a working busker.
